The Malden Redevelopment Authority (MRA), representative member of the North Suburban Consortium (NSC), received a contribution from Prime Lending in recognition of the NSC’s work to promote affordable housing by providing funding for affordable rental developments, homeownership opportunities through down payment assistance loans and oversight of the resale process for properties subject to an NSC affordable housing covenant/restriction.
Most lenders providing financing to first-time homebuyers require that applicants attend and complete a first-time homebuyer course. The MRA extended (through December 31, 2019) the program to reimburse residents in the NSC communities (Malden, Medford, Arlington, Chelsea, Everett, Melrose, Revere and Winthrop) who complete a pre-purchase, post-purchase, multi-family property owner/landlord or foreclosure prevention course between July 1, 2018 and December 31, 2019.
Applicants who complete a course and who are seeking reimbursement should submit their completed application along with proof of residency, proof of payment and course completion certificate to: Malden Redevelopment Authority, P.O. Box 278, Malden, MA 02148 ATTN: Maureen Taylor. Upon approval, a reimbursement check will be issued and mailed to the applicant. Reimbursement is limited to $100 per household.
