North Suburban Consortium Helps Fund Arlington Affordable Housing Project

Tuesday, August 29, 2017

The North Suburban Consortium (NSC) which is managed by the Malden Redevelopment Authority (MRA), provided $1.35 million of NSC HOME funds for the 20 Westminster Avenue project in Arlington. The MRA has been the lead agency for the NSC since the early 1990s. The MRA actively seeks affordable housing opportunities in NSC communities that can be partnered with NSC HOME funds.  Besides Malden, the other cities that participate in the NSC are Arlington, Chelsea, Everett, Medford, Melrose, Revere and Winthrop.  Funding for the NSC is provided by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.

MRA HOME Director Dee Bireddy recently attended a ceremony at 20 Westminster Avenue where Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development Secretary Jay Ash announced funding for the project from the Community-Scale Housing Initiative, a new Massachusetts state program.
